About Us

Our History

South County Physical Therapy (SCPT) was founded in 1966 by Roy Culver, Sr., P.T. Roy Culver, Sr., P.T. saw the need for an outpatient physical therapy facility since there was not one in Mid or South Jefferson County at that time. Mr Culver, was one of the very first physical therapists in this region. Since then, we have remained a family owned and operated facility dedicated to providing quality one-on-one physical therapy. Roy Culver, Sr. set the standards of care very high at SCPT and those principles are still carried on today under the leadership of Roy’s son Mark Culver, D.P.T, P.T. Since 1995, after returning from his service as a Naval Officer in the U.S. Navy and completing physical therapy at Southwest Texas State University.

Mark began the transition of ownership of SCPT. In January 2012, after 46+ years in our original location on 25th Street in Port Arthur, we have moved into a brand NEW facility at 6767 9th Ave., Port Arthur (across from the YMCA). We have continued to offer all outpatient physical therapy services, including home health and are expanding our services to better meet the needs of local industry and the growing need for QUALIFIED Professional training for athletes in our area. If you are not sure if we provide a service you need; just give us a call – chances are we can help you. If we can’t help, we can direct you on to others who can.

We are here to serve and we are honored that for 55+ years we are the #1 source for physical therapy in our area. Others may come and go, we are committed to the people in our communities. We are members of the Better Business Bureau, American Physical Therapy Association, American College of Sports Medicine, McKenzie Institute, Stop Sports Injuries Organization, National Strength and Conditioning Association, Port Arthur Chamber of Commerce and support other local civic organizations because we hold ourselves to high standards and demand only the best for our patients. We are bilingual- Hablamos Español – to meet the needs of our Community. We are honored to take care of generations of Southeast Texans and look forward to serving you or someone you love today.
